Sonic Spinball: The Pinball Adventure
Jump into the action with Sonic Spinball, a unique pinball arcade game from 1993 featuring everyone’s favorite speedy hedgehog, Sonic! In this game, Sonic finds himself up against Dr. Robotnik’s deviously designed Pinball Defense System. Your mission? Help Sonic navigate through this tricky setup to destroy Robotnik’s secret lair and save the day.
Back Story
Set on the usually peaceful Planet Mobius, chaos erupts when Dr. Robotnik invades, capturing the native Animals to transform them into Badniks for his army. He establishes his new base of operations, the Veg-O-Fortress, on Mount Mobius. This fortress, powered by volcanic energy and the magical Chaos Emeralds, is protected by a giant pinball mechanism filled with dangers and challenges.
Gameplay
Sonic Spinball offers a fresh twist on traditional Sonic gameplay by combining classic arcade pinball action with side-scrolling adventure elements. Players control Sonic, who doubles as the pinball, using flippers to launch him through the game’s various levels. Unlike regular pinball, Sonic can move freely when not curled up in ball form, allowing him to explore the pinball tables, jump, and even use his signature Super Spin Dash.
Your main goal in each level is to collect Chaos Emeralds. The number of Emeralds you need to collect varies by level, and you must gather them all to confront the boss of each level and move forward. Each Emerald has its own unique challenges and methods required to reach and collect it.
Losing a life in Sonic Spinball happens only if Sonic falls off the pinball table into hazards below. You can continue the game by sacrificing a life, and the game ends when you run out of lives. However, you can earn extra lives by scoring points through collecting Rings, defeating Badniks, and performing other actions within the game. Reaching a score of twenty million points awards you an extra life, keeping the pinball action going!
Join Sonic in this thrilling pinball adventure and put an end to Dr. Robotnik’s evil plans!
