“Mega Man Battle Network 6” comes in two versions: “Cybeast Falzar” and “Cybeast Gregar,” both released in 2005 by Capcom for the Game Boy Advance. These games are the final installments in the Mega Man Battle Network series, concluding the adventures of Lan, his family, and MegaMan.EXE, who move to Cyber City.
In Cyber City, the threat of the nefarious WWW (World Three) organization resurfaces, challenging the peace once again. The WWW is intent on reawakening the Cybeasts, powerful and chaotic entities within the network. Each game version features one of the two Cybeasts: Gregar, a creature born from the amalgamation of multiple network bugs similar to Gospel, and Falzar, originally created to counter Gregar but eventually spiraling out of control.
The narrative deepens when CircusMan, a WWW Navi, successfully captures one of the Cybeasts, prompting MegaMan.EXE to absorb the other into his system. This sets Lan and MegaMan.EXE on a critical path to thwart the WWW’s plans and uncover the roots of a mysterious conspiracy initially believed to be orchestrated by Baryl and his Navi, Colonel. However, the story takes a twist when it is revealed that Baryl was under the command of Dr. Wily all along.
Dr. Wily, a character with a complex history involving Baryl, raised him during his father’s absence due to war. Wily had forsaken his vengeful plots against the Net society due to his affection for Baryl. Yet, the death of Baryl’s father reignites Wily’s desire for revenge, leading him to transform Colonel into a military-grade Navi. In parallel, Wily creates Iris, another Navi intended for military control. However, Iris’s encounter with Lan shows her a different perspective on humanity, challenging her original purpose.
Throughout the game, players navigate through tactical, real-time combat sequences and intricate storylines in the digital world. As Lan and MegaMan.EXE engage in NetBattles, they uncover truths, face moral dilemmas, and fight to prevent the misuse of technology and power. “Mega Man Battle Network 6” delivers a fitting conclusion to the series, blending action, strategy, and a compelling narrative that questions the boundaries between technology and morality.
