About This Game

“Donald Duck Advance” is the Game Boy Advance version of “Goin’ Quackers,” which differs significantly in gameplay style from its counterparts on other systems. Unlike the 3D platforming found in most versions, the GBA release features traditional 2D side-scrolling action. In this version, players follow the same storyline where the antagonist Merlock kidnaps Daisy Duck, and Donald sets out to rescue her using a teleporter provided by Gyro Gearloose. The game is structured around four main environments: Duckie Mountain, Duckburg, Magica De Spell’s Manor, and Merlock’s Temple. Each of these environments is made up of a series of shorter levels. The primary objective in most levels is to collect three energy spheres required to open the level exit. Donald navigates through a variety of enemies which he can defeat or bypass, perilous gaps, and other challenges. He possesses several abilities to aid his journey, including basic attacks, the ability to jump on enemies, double jumping for extra height, and running to either leap further distances or to manage specific chase sequences that punctuate the gameplay. One unique level in each environment breaks from the standard format, focusing instead on escaping from a pursuer or chasing down a target. Each level also features several checkpoint markers where Donald can restart if he loses a life. Additionally, players can collect stars throughout levels, with every 100 stars granting an extra life. Collecting all stars across all levels unlocks a secret bonus, providing additional incentive to explore thoroughly and master each level. Overall, “Donald Duck Advance” offers a classic platforming experience, mixing skill-based gameplay with the whimsical charm and challenge expected from a Disney-themed video game.
